Specializing in Green Roof Growing Media!
Green Roof Growing Media
Green roofs are designated as extensive, semi-intensive, or intensive. The designation depends on their depth, type of vegetative cover, and function. When saturated, bulk densities, air water holding capacities, permeability rates and soil structure all matter for green roof application. We can provide you with the right blend of green roof growing media for your project, big or small.
- Extensive – These roofs are low maintenance, incorporating small plants and greenery that grow well in lightweight and shallow growing medium with little to no irrigation requirements. This is the simplest form of green roof.
- Semi-intensive – These roofs require moderate maintenance and can vary between more Extensive or Intensive. They generally incorporate some larger shrubs and trees while being primarily made up of smaller plants.
- Intensive – These roofs can be quite complex, incorporating a variety of trees and shrubs as well as walkways for regular access to the roof. Intensive roofs are deeper and heavier than other green roofs, with irrigation systems, drainage, root barriers and more bring required.

Structural Soil
tructural Soil is made from 40–75mm (1.5”–3”) clear blasted rock, soil, and stabilizer. It is intended for street-side tree planting applications, helping prevent tree roots from lifting curbs, sidewalks, and roadway infrastructure. Structural soil contains larger solid particles that provide significantly more stability than conventional soil blends. These structural aggregates create a firm load-bearing base while still allowing plant and tree roots to grow freely through the soil pockets.
We offer a variety of soil blend options that can be incorporated into the structural soil system to meet specific project engineering specifications. Custom formulations are available.

Gabion Basket Mix
Gabion Basket Mix
New for 2026, our custom-order Gabion Mix is specifically designed for planted gabion systems, riparian benches, retaining walls, and structural landscape applications requiring both drainage and vegetation support. Developed to meet engineer specifications this blend combines approximately 70% graded gabion stone with 30% sand-based topsoil to create a stable, permeable growing medium for planted gabion installations.
The gabion stone component utilizes hard, durable, abrasion-resistant rock typically ranging from 100mm to 200mm with no fines, providing excellent drainage, erosion resistance, and long-term structural stability. The integrated topsoil component supports the establishment of shrubs, grasses, and riparian plantings while maintaining permeability and structural performance within the gabion system. The soil component can also be customized or adjusted to meet specific project, consultant, municipal, or engineered soil specifications.
Ideal for riparian restoration, slope stabilization, retaining walls, bioswales, and naturalized landscape applications where both structural integrity and vegetation performance are required.
